Their called rvinuts, ou install them like a pop rivet with a threaded mandrell.

Or this sort . I find the first sort are better in ally, but ideally the versanut type at the bottom of the page, especailly if the ally is thin.

We used the second type Hitch linked to ,for 1.2 stainless sheet ,were very good ,we didn't have special tools ,drill a hole and insert throught plate,using a ball bearing on a flat surface deform fixing ,Gav
