I was in aldi yesterday, bought a small led inspection light for less than a fiver including the batteries. Used it in the shed last night, great little thing.

I just bagged one of their laser measures, last on the shelf, box a bit battered so had a word with the manager: £12
Also a box of five GU10 5W LEDs for the bathroom light bar for a fiver, they were originally halogens but changed to CFLs, however Nursy was never happy with the warm-up time.

As an aside, we use a lot of LED strip at work that results in lots of short offcuts; soldered together, double-sided tape on the back, constant voltage driver hidden on top of the kitchen cabinets and now the under-cabinet halogens can f-off as well

Hey, I didn't realise that this laser measurererer was quite so clever: apart from being 'point and shoot' to read distance from whatever the laser hits (in metres, feet, inches or feet'n'inches) it can also do area of a floor, volume of a space, height of a wall from one or two readings, has an inclinometer so will tell you an angle or if it's not level... it even has a bloody touch-screen!

Just some feedback on the Aldi table saw I bought..in case others are fancying one.

For the money it is excellent, fair bit of power, good cuts and even the guides are good both the straight and angle cuts.

One big negative...very big in fact is the switch, it's tucked away on the panel under the table and not easy to find quickly without bending down to look, it also has the dust cover type fitting so is not an easy switch at the best of times, I don't plan to wrap myself around the blade but am surprised it has no emergency push stop function.

I may look into a 'something' that can be pushed/pressed by foot.

You definitely don't want a saw operated by a foot switch, that's an accident waiting to happen. May be a foot operated stop switch but not one where you could accidently trigger the motor by stepping on something.

Can you just remove the wiring and install a standard double switch arrangement like dewalt and other table saw producers use.

That's what it has now, they are fine when in full view but I don't like it where its positioned.

I've seen a couple with a "stop bar" under the edge of the table on the infeed side, looks easy to find/operate when needed. Maybe a bit of fabrication required?

Think it's sorted, mate says he has a big red emergency stop button going spare, may just be ideal.
