Aldi, tap and die set

The guy I was working with down at Peterborough last week had bought one of these tap/die sets; I was a bit cynical, especially when I caught him about to tap some stainless steel pipe fittings but bu99er me with a frozen trout, it only cut the required thread!
He did however snap one of the drills (about 8mm) later the same day...

I love my mac tap and die set.Pricey, but its got me out of the poop lots of times.

theres nothing wrong with using carbon steel taps and dies as long as u arent using them on hard metals all the time . allso u need a good make. presto ect. i wouldnt fancy using cheap hss taps and dies on any thing important or something that has took a while to make, just pay the money and get the quality

+1 , i've used a friends carbon steel taps , they were supplied by tracy tools , went through stainless steel like a hot knife through butter.

Those Aldi taps are cheap tools, which is fine & dandy until one breaks in a blind hole

Cheap is good but good is not always cheap !!!
