Aldi special buys tomorrow

Little heads up, aldi have a special buy on tomorrow. They have a decent set of automatic wire strippers for £7. I recently got some off eBay marked at toolzone for slightly more and I'm very happy with them, they are sturdy and work well, snap on dealer selling the same ones marked as blue point for 4 times as much.

I had a pair...didn't rate them at all tbh...

Only pair I like are a pair of plier style strippers/crimpers I got from lidl years ago...any others I've bough since have been rubbish...

a quality pair are good for stripping loose cable on light fittings if theres a lot to do but only up to about 1.5mm flat twin and earth. no use in sockets where the cable has to be stripped right back . snips are best for that

I found a nice little set called Stripmaster made by the ideal industries co. and they work really nicely, bargain at £1 from a car boot.

Got a couple of pairs of pressmaster ones courtesy of my previous job so no need for a set of these but may be tempted by their set of vde screwdrivers for a fiver (not for any live working mind, just as a set to keep in my laptop bag to save losing my decent ones for the occasional terminal that needs a tweak)

Those are fine for automotive wiring.

That's about the only time I use that style of stripper, allows me to strip the insulation in the middle of a cable run when I want to solder a splice in as I won't use "scotchlok" type connectors.

As a mechanic it's the only wiring I work on, don't no how well it would work on domestic stuff

The cabinet caught my eye in their little catalogue. Not seen it in the flesh. I may have look tomorrow. Doesn't look particularly cheap though. I had a look on ebay and I think I could buy a similar one by US Pro Tools any day of the week for around the same price.

the socket testers worth a punt at 9 quid .there normaly about 15 quid, it says tool zone but its the same as the socket and see ones there all just badged up ones made by one firm in china

bought the bar stool for sitting at the lathe, was going to make one but for 17 quid I get to spend more time on my bum.

Bought a set of the drivers, after a Stanley one shattered and a trainee "lost" a Wera one (probably lost in his pocket)

The PH2 gets used and abused daily on terminals, 8 per meter, 6 or 7 a day and they are tightened from new so all 8 are loosened, tightened, then checked

I also only use them on the terminals, not wood screws

So far it's held up well, didn't fall to bits on the first day, the coating seemed a bit soft but it's ok
I'm thinking of buying a couple of packs to chuck in a cupboard

The tool chest looked a bit over priced for what it is, halfords often have offers on, and their cabs are well built

Picked up a set of the vde drivers today. The handles are comfortable and they seem well made, well worth a fiver seeing as a set of Screwfix cheapest are £10 and the handles are horrible on those.

Time will tell how the tips perform but they seem ok with no rough castings or burrs.

I'll report back after a bit of use......

I brought a set of screw drivers just because they are cheap, they look good for the money. Brought wire strippers also and got the drill for work when going down to show room to drill number plates etc, used it a hand full of times and think it's spot on for the price, want another one for home now

The link takes me to 6x 210ml bottles of coronita extra, which is a rip of as I can get it for free by peeing in a bottle.

You could go all the way, Mexican-wise and bung a load of salsa in it, it certainly can't make it taste worse.
