I'm not going to buy any more Aldi "bargains".

The air tools I bought a couple of years ago, work, but not very well! Weak performance from the die grinder, with its stones that last about 5 minutes and the air saw although occasionally useful is also weak. They should both be fine as I have a 3 HP 14 CFM compressor. The regulator/oiller I got from ALDI is OK, but the air line it comes with is of such poor quality that during the winter the plastic is so hard it remains coiled and stiff till the spring in my garage. My other (non oil) air line bought from shiremore compressors is much higher quality retaining flexible on the coldest days.

What do they say? Buy good quality tools and you only need to buy them once!

My Pa bought one of those linishers. Junk.
The belt slipped and was unusable. iin the end I took it off and put a wire brush on the other end and use it for cleaning stuff. Works OK but gets really hot after a few minutes.

Point taken and totally agreed with Chickenjohn, but for simple stuff when you have access to a machine shop, sorting the rough edges on these is fairly straightforward if doing for home use. Have the good stuff for regular use...wish you were the buyer at our place

We all know Aldi gear is not "top notch" but some of their items are OK,I'v worked my £7-99, 5" angle ginder to death and it's still going strong, There really is no risk to take as most Aldi tooling come with a 3YEAR warrenty, so hang on to your receipt, I have taken stuff back before and had it replaced or refund with no hastle at all

Agree with Gordon, Aldi stuff is probably not the way to go if you use the tools for your business. However as a hobby user I've bought their compressor, pressure washer, digital calipers and various sundries and all have been great for me.

Well, if the "quality" of their air tools and fitments is anything to go by, I would not reccomend their tools, even for the amateur user. (I am an amateur user, just a LOT of amateur use, restoring cars etc).

MM sell similar for £80.
I got same unit from NETTO 4 yrs ago, in use daily. I was so impressed I got another. Lifts 200kg 6m or 100kg 12m, for intermittent use only (2.5mins every 10 mins)no probs, I'm not running a shipyard.

Where can you get a 230v reversing geared motor & switch @ this price?
I shall get a couple more, strip off the lifting bit, use 1 to drive a set of hand rolls & the other to power the up/down on a milling machine.

Edit - just noticed the Alldi one lifts 250kg & is 550w, my old ones are 450w, so this is even better

I've got a heavy duty 40:1 worm wheel that would couple to that to make a super-duty bending tool.

I agree with Gordon. JimM and anyone else who appreciates good value. I've not yet been disappointed with anything I've bought at Aldi, and neither have I even needed to claim on the 3 year warranties which come with most of the hardware items. How many of the more aloof suppliers have sufficient confidence in their often over-priced products to offer a 3 year warranty?

heres an aldi digital caliper they cost 8 quid metric and imperial there as acurate as the mitutoyo dial caliper i bought for over 50 quid the only noticable thing on them is the rack and pinion slider gearing is quite sensitive. other than that they are brill and before anyone coments ive zeroed it at its present setting

I got a couple of 12v rechargeable LED work lights (complete with mains charger and car battery adaptors) 18 months ago from Aldi. £15.98 for both of them.

They're both in pretty much constant use 5-6 days per week, been dropped, abused, used as impromptu hammers, one got run over by a 4x4 etc etc.

Still going strong. Exact same ones with the Draper badge on are £34.99 each.

Did these go dead within 3 years ? did you staple the reciept to the booklet that came with the tools and did you put them in a safe FINDABLE place so that when they did go belly up you could get your cash back ?. I do and have had no problems with geting money or a replacement or service either from Aldi or Lidl. As for quality some items are better than others BUT with a 3 year warrenty and hobby use it's difficult to be screwed.
