Just got one of the sharpener gismos from Aldi today, at £14.99 I thought it was worth a punt to save having to make some jigs for the bench grinder.
In a nutshell, it's a great idea but very poorly executed.
The Drill Bit Sharpener:- bit holder/position setting thing is poorly finished and the important guide sliders are far too small and loose fitting to be any use. The result is a very rough & badly sharpened bit.
The Chisel Sharpener:- very poor guide/slide resulting in uneven edge.
The Scissor Sharpener:- Baffled at the design of the guides and difficult to work out how to get a proper edge at anything resembling the correct angle.
The Cutting Wheel:- diamond? coated metal wheel, cuts OK but too coarse and leaves an edge you could almost call serrated!
Conclusion:- I'm no stranger to Aldi tools, I have my fair share so I know what to expect BUT.... It wasn't worth a punt, it's going back for a refund!!
