Aldi digital calipers

Does anyone have a set of these?

Used mine today what a pile of poo!

Is it just a dodgy set I have?
They turn on if i tough them, the measurements are weird sometimes it measures a iter at 116mm them again at 120mm I think they are going back. The lidl ones are the nuts compared to these

I have a few sets some cheaper than others, repeatability is the key, the mitutoyo are spot on and cost my old employer at fair penny, the moore and wright are not to bad either were about 40 quid from memory, the 10 quid one is really for checking spanner sizes. But my go to is an old non digital proper one, again mitutoyo.

the lidl ones are great bang on every time but I can not use these aldi ones 7.99 worth of junk I shall return them

workzone is pants. I have a few sets of lidle ones no probs. accurate even got some left handed ones

Those appear as different brands, I had some which were branded Hilka. Utter pants, they wouldn't hold zero and measurements were sometimes way out. Sent them back for a refund.

I now have some branded Moore & Wright and are much better.

I have some Mitutoyo callipers and some Lidle ones. The batteries in the Mitutoyo ones last 4 times longer than Lidle ones.

the cheap ones can be good but the battery's go flat if left in cold weather

That's why I described them as branded Moore & Wright - it happens such a lot these days, Wolf is a prime example and even the Co-Op bank has nothing to do with the Co-Op anymore.

They're the "Moore & Wright" ones like mine, no complaints so far. Got them here https://www.machine-dro.co.uk came with 5 spare batteries.

Rather have a cheap set of m&w than a cheap set of workzone though.
Well unless I wanted to use em to scribe lines on my workpiece.

Mine will sit for a month with the jaws open and don't need zeroing upon my return.

Paid 40 quid second hand from someone on here last year.

I have a set of Mitutoyo digital calipers, bought them nearly exactly 20 years ago and apart from the odd flat battery, they have been absolutely excellent, they even look like new still, compared them to my micrometers the other day, and they were bang on to the third digit . Tried the cheapo ones a few times, they all ended up in the bin.

You really get what you pay for in metrology tools.
