Aldi 18V impact driver and hammer drill?

Ive heard a whisper that the big name manufacturers make there power tools for the likes of Screwfix etc to a price..meaning all these bumper deals and multi packs are not built with the same quality as the regular line of tools

It's more that you have to look for the actual model number in the kit
I found Screwfix rarely seem to stock high end powertools
I use ffx they have the whole Makita range so I can choose exactly what I want

Even if Screwfix have special model deal done for them the reality is you still get a proper kit box and the batteries/charger will cross over to dozens of other tools.It's easy to get hung up on battery sizes but if you are buying an Aldi set because it won't get much use then even 1.5 Dewalt batteries will be absolutely fine and you can just order some extra one online for not much more which you still be able to do in 3-4 years time. Spare chargers can be had for £20 brand new.

All the other major players have some good deals on twin packs, I only mention Dewalt because that's what I have.

The Dewalt kit will always be worth sometime where as the Aldi kit is throw away.

I fully understand not everyone is in a position to spend money on tools but it becomes a downward spiral where you end up spending more in the long run. I hate the whole "It's cheap I'll just buy a new one attitude" all that is doing is creating more pollution in our world. You see exactly the same with people who buy the £40-50 Karchers with 25 accessories, in the long run they nearly always end up spending enough to have bought a proper one in the first place and to add insult to injury they will often end up buying a proper one after wrecking 3-4 of the cheap ones.

I know for sure that the makita and dewault twin packs at the front of the store ATM are really nothing special

As for buying cheap tools if I don't know if I will use something I will buy a cheap one and if it gets used a lot I will then upgrade I have a park side router multitool and belt sander for this reason
All of which I found I use a lot I killed the belt sander last week and have reached the limits of the router so both off these will be replaced shortly and the multitool rarely gets used so that will be left for the time being

Few items I'm happy to buy cheap.
Cheap dewalt drills. Always have an abundance so one going wrong isn't going to ruin my day and there abused in all weathers and environs.
Table saws. Not going to blow 600 on a decent contractor saw for the little use they get. My little Clarke 10"woodworker is fine for the odd occasion and have a 12"Clarke for bigger work. Main use it gets is cutting stepped firings.

Planer/thicknesser. Just spent £150 on a cheap Titan (screwfix) one. Needed for a job tomorrow.
I bought my last identical one second hand for 60 notes old and abused and ran it for a few years. If this one lasts 3 years it's worth 50 notes a year easily. Again doesn't see a lot of use.

Routers I spend the money on. There worked hard. Same as skill saws planers jigsaws etc.

An 18V Dewalt brushless combi drill is going to be better than the Aldi offering even if it isn't the top of the line example. I'm also prepared to bet that even just picking them you would know the difference.

Not an assumption look at the technical info on Screwfix and then look at the entire dewalt range
I'm not saying there special items just that Screwfix generally have a small stock of things and generally of the cheaper models and some of the cheap models are compatible to parkside
I have seen bare Makita and dewalt drills for sale new for £25 this obviously isn't the all metal gearbox 3 speed top of the line model

I never said they were top of line units I all my point is they will be better and whole life costs will be lower than buying the Aldi ones.

I'd notice the difference after dropping both off a ladder. Which would your money be on working after that fall.

One of my old makitas went out of a first story window and lived to tell the tale. Still living in fact and in not so regular use and that was a cheap non LXT model.

Still using some first gen lion gear over a decade on. Still using some old dewalt nicad gear with an adapter to run lion too.

That said I can't comment on the lidl range as I've never used or handled them but I'm also not likely too any time soon.
Tools are my living and I tend to stick with what I know.
