Airfed mask cfm ?

I bought an airfed mask about five years ago from a chap who had used it only once for painting a restoration project he had. I cannot remember the brand , but its a well known make and light blue in colour , anyone know what it is ? Anyway what sort of compressor specs are needed to keep up with an airfed mask for spraying 2k.

probably around 8-9 cfm, if it has a belt filter, remove it and examine it before use they have an expiry date

A compressor of even 10cfm will be running flat out I would say. The problem tends to be the helmet lens fogging up with less air, rather than straight up asphyxiation. Also there is a chance you might draw air/fumes in if you don't have enough flow and pressure. I tried a 30 litre Clarke easy air oil free once and it was about useless for the job.

I have found that my Sperian 2 mask takes a ton of air, my 3hp 50l could not keep up with it. I have had to add two more compressors in parallel to supply this and an HVLP gun, so I now have 8hp and 125l in total.

I really wish I had bought a bigger compressor in the first place!

My 3M mask is happy on 3HP 100l. My new 5.5HP runs a gun and the mask.

Yea, I would advise anyone against the Sperian as it takes so much air, I got it cheap on ebay, the seller said it had never been used and it looked perfect and unused when I got it. I am sure he sold it due to the huge air consumption.

They are probably used by professional spray painters working in large shops where air consumption isn't an issue.
