As an example I’ve got a cheap JCB main powered drill. It’s a 2 speed with a mechanical gearbox - in speed 2 it’s not actually all that difficult to stall the drill from a standstill if you put enough pressure on it with a hole saw or similar in. Once you get it wound up then it’s a different matter but the start up torque is actually quite poor.It isn't hard at all because electric motors nearly always have more torque than air motors, thay also ghenerally have more start up torque.
I’d say one with a gearbox would certainly be a better option than running a single speed one.Maybe a 2 speed drill would be better than the variable speed I've burnt out.

A brushless motor will have more protection circuits built in. No idea how much battery life you would get but probably plenty
