Air line filters

Hi all!

I've just got a Plasma cutter (R Tech 50), and apparently you have to be quite particular about ensuring the air supply is clean and dry.
Has anyone on the forums used the "AT1000" from Plasmatech which is about £75?
If so is it a good 'un, and would this be enough on it's own or would I need to put any other filters between the compressor and the machine?

Would much appreciate any info or ideas 'cos I haven't got a clue what to get!!

1 micron water trap should do the job, that's what Hypertherm recommend for their machines. You can double up with a cheap one and then see if any water is getting into the second trap in the line. I like the auto drainers 'cos you can just forget about them.

as said in above post have one on your compressor tank and one near the end of your line and your well covered

I only run one combination regulator/water trap without problems,
be sure to drain the tank regularly and you should be fine.

Does your plasma have a built in filter? My Hypertherm has a filter/water separator inside the case, But I also have another in-line one. Bought from ALDI cost around £18-00, they come as a combined filter and lubricator but just unbolt the lubricator section as it's not needed.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll take the plunge and get the AT1000.
When I've used it, if I disconnect at the machine and have a Severn bore coming at me I'll stick a cheaper one in line as suggested!
To be honest I haven't taken it out of the box yet (apart from hooking the instructions out) so I don't know if there's a filter on it or not!

Most plasma's, even the cheaper ones usually come with a regulator/filter when new.
