I bought the RTec air fed mask, not really used it yet but I was fed up with black snot and a tickley throat from welding fumes
Although I've not used it yet, I have tried it on a few times and adjusted it ready to go
My initial thoughts are its quite a bit heavier than my non PAPR Optrel. The controls for shade/mode etc are buttons on the lense cassette and these are a faff to get to
The weight is all down to the extra bits to protect you from the fumes plus it's a welding grinding helmet, I think it would be better off not trying to be all things and ditch the grinding stuff and just be a welding mask
Yes, I did do research before buying and most of the testers commented on the weight difference and the controls so I knew what I was getting
If I could have some invisible PAPR on my Optrel I'd be a happy camper
Mrs @doubleboost loves hers, guess it's just a case of getting used to the change
I've just pushed the button on some laser cut parts to make a bumper, welding this his will be a proper test to see how I get on with it

Have you seen the optrel Swiss Air?
That's nearly invisible papr.
Not sure if any of the cheaper brands do anything similar?

@hotponyshoes no i haven't, given what the Optrel cost me I expected their PAPR to be a similar order of magnitude

I did just check and the Optrel PAPR looks really good, however, at nearly £1000 it's way too spendy so I'll give it a miss

ive had g5 01vc nearly 2yr and think its great (orange shade is mostly what i use). thats my opinion of it. also i have the task light mounted which is excellent if you work in dark areas.
