air compressor

can any one recommend a non SIP plasma cutter say 3/4mm that will not cost the earth and run off a air compressor, my m8 reckons it cant be done

What size compresser would I need for these

Ideally if you plan on doing a lot of cutting I'd go for a 14cm, I've used an 8cfm but eventually you have to wait while it catches up

ive cut 10mm steel severance cut, not brilliant though at 40 setting on the cut 50 plasma cutter without blowing the 13amp fuse

using I believe an air compressor around 6cfm 40 litre belt drive compressor

I think 14cfm is way over the top

I've got a little compressor I sometimes use with my plasma if I'm away from the big compressor... little compressor is probably only 1.5hp? has a 20litre tank ? - I can pick it up and carry it around fine with one hand

works fine for me

ok.. it would probably struggle if I was cutting continuously... but you always have to stop for a min here and there while you move around / get things lines up etc.

I think 14cfm is way over the top.

I did state if he was doing a lot of cutting I was and had to keep waiting so changed to the bigger compressor as it's annoying when you go to use it again and all that happens is a light flashes

cheers all, wont be used that much, so thinking about a 9.6ccfm 24l 2.5hp as it is small enough to chuck in the car
