Air brush work

In the not too far distant future I hope to air brush /touch up where some gluey transfers were on my caravan.
I had it " professionally " cleaned and six months later the transfers have leaked and shrunk leaving a 5 mm black glue band surrounding all letters and designs

I've managed to use isopropanol & loads of ladies make up removing pads to get the transfers & glue off & now want to tart it up , " Got the correct Baileys paint .


Can anyone advise me what is the widest distance you can cover in a single spray pass off one of the Devebliss( sp?) air brush spray units with self contained mini compressor .
I'm asking because I would like some sort of idea of what I'm about to do and work out if I need a second or third 250 ml can of paint .

if you're talking about the sort of airbrush for doing artwork or painting models ( a double acting one), it would depend on the model of the airbrush, and you'd be looking at the widest nozzle/needle combination (probably 0.5mm) but airbrushes tend to have a fairly narrow spray pattern. for spraying relatively large area, I find that I need to over thin the paint or the air drys it. so these days I use a single acting airbrush (like the one below) for larger areas as it allows me to have a wet finish rather than a dry one. if you're talking about using 250ml of paint though one of these that is alot of paint especially if it needs to be thinned

Many thanks Optima , what you have said is exceedingly useful to me , I'd best order a couple of litres of thinners then & get half a dozen big bore syringes .

if you're wanting to cover more than a couple of inches in area, and you have a normal garage air compressor you may be better off looking for a "touch up spray gun" off ebay, and they can do larger areas and you dont need a huge compressor to power them

i have a devillbiss pannel spray gun it can be turned down to a verry small spray pattern. had it 50 years now cost 50 quid when i bought it

What you need to do is find a job that she wants doing that requires the previously mentioned equipment!

I already have it ....on both lower sides of the 5 berth caravan ....... where the logs used to be .
