In the spirit of all things bright and shiney I thought I might just take a moment to share the 'out of the box' experience with you...custom made in yellow!!

Cool - they are yellow now!. Have they started doing colours to order? - if I'd know that I'd have gone for a Renault racing blue with two white gordini stripes. Wonder if the Portamig stickers are available for my respray.

Custom colours could be a cool marketing idea. Weldequip seems to sell them for the performance (you'll love it a lot) but 90% of the time it's going to be parked up in the garage while you are doing other things - and it's got to look good.

Not sure where that quote came from - nobody ever suggested silver - that's the resellable option. But why would anyone want to resell their Portamig? Drive around on motorways for any length of time and you get depressed by all the same old silver cars. Amazing how many waves and thumbs up you get once you've managed to wobble up to speed in your yellow car. I think a little yellow brightens people's lives up a little.

Same with welder colours - people want a welder that makes them feel happy. You might think that all they want is good performance, but really all we're after is a welder that works OK in a nice colour.

Of course I do have a strange taste in colours. Not sure how I got distractede by the colour - I'd been meaning to comment on the technique for removing them from the box. I lifted mine out to save the box and nearly dropped it.

The Carriers have a wonderful ability of doing that before you've even received it! All you Carriers reading... take a length of good rope, find a branch of a tree, or any other suitable place high enough off the ground. Throw the rope over said tree branch, put around neck & SWING!

have to admit that it's tipped this buyer into action. I'd been saving up for a while now, so when Weldequip is back from sunnier climes there will be an order for a yellow 211 on the way.
Sounds fickle, but it was my birthday yesterday and the management approved as soon as she saw these pictures of what I wanted as a present...

Yellow is a great colour, I'm really pleased with it sounds bonkers, but it does make a difference IMO

Glad you have decided to get one...we'll have to have a Portamig splinter group

1) I can see Mr. SIP130T offering a "MIG Valetting" service.

2) It seems the real customers Weldequip and co. should be aiming for are wives - they make the ultimate parchasing decision after all! Along the lines of:

"No way, why do you need an expensive wel ... oooh look, shiny yellow!"

The real question is: how far can you take this? Pink Portamigs?? With fluffy bits??
