I thought id post some pics of todays progress on a tank being made for another forum member, (very glad that R works on the same destracted time scale i do), Originaly when we spoke I was going to make it LCMS, however having cut the 20" 3/8 CDS tube and flange plate i relised that the lump would weigh a good 2cwt or more, which I didnt think was practical, So I decided to scratch start and build the lot out of ally.
I started with a 5mm flat sheet and ran it through the rolls to get 2 semi circles.
The second job was to run the top plate up on the mill.
Once the recess for the O ring was machined I parted the inside away, I had to run about 30thou off the the plate to true it.
All the bits made (kind off) theres a block to make on the lathe to take the pipe work and the bottom plate will be square for stability.
Thats where I got to tonight, the main pieces tacked and ready to put the runs in. Il post the finished article up one its done.
