For many years now I've been using a "Bernard 40B Stub Nose Electrode holder", I now would like to purchase another one, but can't find one for sale in the UK anywhere.

Would a member in America be prepared to buy and ship one to me in the UK, please.

ive never had any problems with the ones available on ebay. Paid around 5 quid for mine, rated for 400 amp and got a very strong clamp on it. 100% duty cycle at 280 amps too

For me to ship an empty box to the UK is $98 UPS. Same for Fedex.

USPS (US Priority Mail) is $50 but you get no tracking and customs takes weeks.

Shipping has gotten insane here. Someone with a commecial discount might be able to do it cheaper. I'd suggest finding another stingher locally. I want to upgrade to the twist type.

They appear to be made from a hard fibre type material (not bakerlite) definitely not plastic, the handle tube is nice and slim, the head grips any rod even 1.6mm without any problems.

The cheap holders just feel nasty compared with a Bernard holder, they are expensive but in my mine worth the extra, I've had my present one for over thirty years now, its still almost like new and burnt thousand of rods with it.

IMHO....They are the Rolls Royce of electrode holders and I want one to go with my new welder, if I can get one.

Vlamboog make one the same style, price, but the bernard looks more ergonomic.
I heard good things about the Stinger V, lots of them used on the pipeline, but I havent talked myself round the $70 odd price tag yet

AFAIK You can send up to 8lbs (might be 6# now) via USPS Global Priority Express for less than 30usd*. In fact I've 2 parcels due to arrive next week and I was charged less than 20usd for one and free for the other purchase.

I'll post the value when I get them next week

May last USPS 8 oz box to the uk was $48 Global Priority Mail.

Were these from companies or private individuals, most companies get big discounts, my last employer (who was not a retail outfit so did not actually send that much) used to get 55% of UPS and about 70% of USPS, but if you are an individual you are asked to pay full price.

Have you got a price from a company that sells them to ship direct, they could probably get better rates.

I've managed to find a holder on Fleabay in the States (new old stock), its currently winging its way via Global Priority Mail, for the cost of $23.27 shipping, $30.00 purchase price for the holder, plus I also got taken for prepaid UK customs fees by Fleabay/Paypal...

So all in all 40 quid for an electrode holder, expensive yes, but in my mind worth it to go with my new welder...
