Advise needed for new TIG user

Good thing about something like that daves is that the bottle will be able to attach to the unit, as it has a bottle space at the rear. Inverters are great for portability, but often tend to take a kicking unless you make a custom trolley for them. Almost all TIGs run as an MMA unit and its when you shuffle the inverter from place to place it takes a battering (18months after getting mine i still havent made a trolley for it lol)

I've been watching that Kemppi just to see how much it fetches. Anyone know how much it would have been new?

Id guess at around the £1850+Vat, but i think the master tigs are a bit long in the tooth now, that will make good money being single phase so it will go to the hobby market, Mate's selling a 2500 3 phase model and wants a grand for it, Machines on ebay are makeing fortunes, Its worth finding out what the dealers are selling, they often have good S/H machines ex trade in, thing with them is there often chuck 3 months waranty on them as well so you get peace of mind, lincoln do some very nice inverter tigs starting at around £1500. One thing I would say aluminum requires good duty cycles, and really a footpedal, I once had a transtig with only about 35% on the top end it drove me nuts, So now I run 500 amps with 100% at 300,.

Percentage mark up in power tools is normally quite low (i mean quality tools) I normally beat my welding and equipment supplier down to a very low price, normally cos i do net searches for prices then ask him to give me a price and laugh when he tells me his price. Then i let him rethink his price, he normally tells me what he is paying from the wholesaler after the deal is done and its often less than 10%, even lower on more expensive machinery

It's all very well getting the best price for equipment, but don't expect good back-up, loan machines, next day service on consumables etc. if you beat a reputable dealer down to 'box mover' prices - and no, I'm not a dealer but I do run a fabrication/contracting business. W/A
