I am hoping to purchase a welder with a view to creating scrap sculptures. I am currently working with copper but am finding it a bit limiting in what I can create, and getting hold of materials without it costing the earth!
I envisage that I will mostly be doing tack welds and such rather than runs,of varying thickness, but would imagine no thicker than 4mm.I think I have narrowed it down to either the Clarke151TE Turbo or the GYPs Smart mig 162.
I think I am right in that both are gas/no gas models and both can work of 13 amp socket. The Clarke has gas regulator included but the GYPs has a Euro-torch assembly which I read (on here somewhere) is something that would be preferable.
Given what I am going to use it for (which is going to be hobby end initially) I assume that the Clarke is 'ready to go' (given that it has a gas regulator) but would be of a lower quality than the GYPs, that will work out more expensive but of a better quality?
Many thanks in advance
