Advise a good sliding milling table pls

Hi..

Unfortunately a while ago I purchased one of those 2 way X and y axis vices to hold materials when pillar drilling etc enabling me to move the piece easily for multi holes etc..

Unfortunately it's awful, there is so much play in the thing and while you can adjust for the play its so unreliable, hence the workpiece moves during drilling and you get a poor result..

Mine from e bay was about £50 I believe.. I now use a fixed drlling vice type clamp but could really do with an accurate sliding option. So any ideas pls..

Still looks a bit Micky mouse that one.
Noods your not trying to mill with a pillar drill are ya mate. That won't go well.
I'd look for one that you can lock the slides when in position.

I have a quality sliding table I would sell if you are interested, but it's not a compound table (X and Y), only single axis movement.
Its about 16 or 18" square from memory, has 3 T slots and must weigh about 20KG.
I will post a pic if you want.

Here is the table, it's in very good nick with no play in the slides and an unmarked surface. I can't find a makers mark on it but I guess it's British made. It has 4 mounting holes on flanges on the base to bolt it down and has 6" of movement.
