a lot of people think WD40 is a penetrating oil but it's not
plus-gas is a penetrating oil nothing like wd40 that is a water dispersantWD40 also corrodes electrical terminals as well

There's also an effect with WD40 where it eventually leaves a residue which picks up moisture.
I found when I had a distributor playing up and needing ever more frequent applications of WD40, the solution was to take it off and wash it in warm soapy water, rinse it in rain water, then dry it in the airing cupboard. No more problems.
WD40 works a bit as a penetrating oil, but as octo0072000 says, it isn't a proper penetrating oil and Plus Gas is.
I find a spot of diesel works pretty well as a penetrating oil, much cheaper than WD40 as well. Less convenient because it isn't in a spray can.
WD40 is massively over used and mis-used in my opinion.
