Hi all, I'm new to the forum and a novice welder, I'm after some advice please.
I was given a 3 phase Philips PZ2309/14 20 years ago and have used it ever since, however it's beginning to show it's age somewhat.. As far as I know my only issues are with the torch and cable; the torch itself has an unreliable trigger and damage around the shroud whilst the cable has a worn liner which is resulting is wire drag if I've got too many bends in it. I've asked a few people about converting or repairing it and been told "it's old and obsolete, buy a new one" which is obviously the simplest and shiniest solution, however having explored the forum and come across threads like this one from @Richiew I wondered if it's possible to repair it?
The earth clamp is bottom left, cable connector on the right takes power to the top box (no idea what the different connectors do, it's always been connected to the top one), the voltage selectors and dials work too. On the wire feed housing the wire speed selector and trigger wires are front left with power and gas entering the cable externally too.
Inside the wire feed housing there's a 15kg spindle along with wire drive unit etc and this is presumably the bit I'm most interested in? I can see connections for the gas supply and power, and assume that the trigger switch wires live in the secret box at the back. Is there any possibility of getting all of this back within the case and onto a Euro style torch connection or similar? If so is this something I could attempt or is it something I would be better off leaving to someone who knows what they're doing, and if so who are they?! If that's the case I'm in Northamptonshire if anyone has any recommendations for people/companies that might be able to help?
I'll stick some more pictures up below, apologies for the state of the machine too..
