Thank you Stan, those are great, looks like the end just broke off from my gib then. I contacted the chap about the nuts, I've to measure the screws for him but I won't get a chance until next week now.
My plan is to weld it up and chuck it at the machinist at work to take the groove out of it.
Alternatively, weld up the end and have the groove made square and make the little adjuster wheel bigger.
Perhaps he meant if its got a screwcutting gearbox? Yours only has the 3 speed? Also i notice you have a gap in the bed next to the headstock?
Mine has an imperial screwcutting gearbox but metric micrometer dials.
Quicker way would be to weld the gap smaller and then cut and file to fit the adjuster wheel.
I am assuming you don't have a mill but have an hacksaw and file..

Probably a special build by Harrison being a metric 11" with or without the Norton box.
The 140 is true metric ie can disengage half nuts, wind carriage back and re engage almost any where, lines up. Mine had dual dials was one of a few 1ph with 1 1/2hp motor and could never find the serial number but estimate 1966 to 68.

Here's a bit of an update, I have stripped the entire apron off the machine to I can clean all the old oil and gunk out of it and replace with fresh new oil. I've drained the headstock oil and resealed the top cover plate, found a small allen key and grub screw in there once it was drained! One of my mates had a Tecalemeit oil gun he has kindly donated to me.
Before this I measured the runout at the spindle, on the bit behind the threaded part. Came out with a fraction more than 0.01mm, so less than half a thou. What's considered acceptable here?
Headstock, slideway and some cutting oil have been ordered, should have been here today but obviously next day delivery means something different to them!
Have 4 new thrust washers for the cross slide and topslide screws, new belts for the motor and also waiting on 4 levelling screws for the base, need to find someone with a precision level to beg a loan of!
Just the tapered jib to sort out now.
Checked the serial number of the machine, it was built in 1965 and as such has the screw on chuck spindle instead of the L00 fitting.

Some pictures of the bed, I don't know what would be considered good condition, but look ok to me. They have been sprayed down with a bit of penatrating fluid in these photos.
