Im making a chipper and need some edges machined onto a flat plate of mild steel ,about 100x100mm,ive got about 20 to do, i thought about mounting the plate at the correct angle and getting an axe type edge machined onto the plate steel using a milling machine.I tried it with a grinder, its a PITA, Is this feasible using a milling machine? Gaz, r u making the wood carver in the first photo ?
if so buy 1....to much to go wrong at them speeds......
if it a normal wood chipper, branches in- chips out type........
afraid u need something better than mild steel.....
it's worth a look at the chipper spare parts sites......
proper made are quite cheap, good steel n ready to go......
that's provided ur mounting plate / shaft isn't machined yet...
