Advice from the wrist watch fixers

I got this watch from new about 35 years ago from a real shop !

It was a lot of money to me at the time, but I guess not an expensive watch in the scheme of things... £250 odd back then which was a lot and sentimental to me.

It stopped about 4 years ago, took it back to the shop complaining no longer a Tissot dealer but serviced it and working fine until the back fell off while wearing it and lost for good.

The original shop said they cannot help and I can't find anything on line either.

Anyone got any tips where I can find a back for this model?

Even the more luxury watches were produced is vast numbers. My understanding is that many even high end watches would use an "off the shelf" movement with their part being to stick it in a case and make it worth the advertising costs.

So with any luck there will be a lot of that case type floating around and as I know to my cost, if you don't keep on top of the service schedule, the more expensive the watch, the more likely it is to fail. Even the more expensive watches are cheap as chips once they stop working so why not set up an eBay search, find a similar cased Tissot, buy it for parts.

Very unlikely you’ll find the correct case back for it but you’ll probably find one that will fit as the screw thread will likely be common to many makes and models. You just need to make sure it’s deep enough that the rotor won’t foul it. It’s a nice looking movement so a glass “exhibition” back would look fantastic.

I think the screw thread point is what is putting watch shops off helping.
I change batteries etc for others but I'm no watch expert.

This looks like a press fit IMHO, there is no thread on the case mating.
It was rated waterproof to pointless depths I won't see unless concrete boots, so I don't care about that or originality of a Tissot bac, I like the idea of a glass back, I agree the auto movement is nice

You should probably get someone to knock you up a 3d print before the oils dry out and dust gets in...
