Adjusting the AVR on generator ?

Anyone know why there are two adjustment screws on the AVR on my kva Chinese nasty generator? is one for each 110v winding or is one up and one down ?

What is the correct procedure to adjust the AVR, load or off load, what's the right voltage 220 or 240? ( my mini inverter stick welder says 240 v input )

Anyone's guess on Chinese stuff... my guess one will be voltage, other will either be some form of overload to drop the volts off as the set gets fully loaded, or some form of stability trim

I can't help with the first part (except suggesting mark where it is a twiddle it to see what happens.....) but the voltage is simple. We generally have 240vac but things are not that voltage sensitive, 230vac nominal is the euro norm with a percentage either way.

Usually on regular AVR's (so just possibly the Chinese follow suit) with 2 adj pots are for
1. Voltage
2. Voltage Stability

So offload try adjusting (with a multimeter connected to see what happens) but make a note of the current position so you can go back to it.

Usually clockwise is more volts and more stability for each and vice versa.

You'd normally only alter the Stability if it was fluctuating badly, and then only by just enough to stabilise it (you want the AVR to still be able to react to changing load to compensate quickly).

I've found this image which suggests one screw is " protection current". Maybe an overload cut off ?

Protection current on a typical generator AVR is 300% for 5 seconds(approx.), enough to trip the downstream protection, but i suspect on this device it could mean something completely different probably cuts the excitation on an overload, which will then prevent anything tripping or blowing (fuses).

Sounds like it's a variation on the UFRO system on Stamfords. Under Frequency Roll-Off - the AVR reduces the voltage on the output to allow the generator chance to recover.
Guessing that the above does something similar but uses current instead of frequency as the trigger.
