Could it be that they are directional tyres on the car that are on the wrong way around?
This sprung to mind when you mentioned that it was bad in the wet.
Ive had cars in the past where tha shocks have been totally shagged and when I changed them there was not really a noticable difference in the driving of the wagon.
Where I would have noticed the shocks bad would have been hard cornering on a potholed surface, but not on normal driving.
I even had a broken spring in the back of the vectra which I did not even know about till I looked her over for MOT! Granted it was only the bottom two coils broken but the car did not even sit low on the side with the broken spring.
Maybe different cars behave differently. Ive been stuck with the vectra since my trusty old mitsubishi 'gun died last year!
