Hello All,
I have a Clarke 196 Turbo and have noticed that the earth cable, where it exits the case, has small split. Its only a small split, but getting worse.
Its a solid cable with 10/25 printed on it that goes through the machine to the earthing point on the inside of the case by the wire feed. This is so it can be changed when using either Gas or NoGas.
Its only a 2Mtr cable and have been thinking for while that it could do with being a bit longer, so I am looking at getting a 3Mtr or 4Mtr cable.
My intention is to fit a 10/25 Dinse Socket onto the welder which means a replacement lead is much easier to source.
My question is how does the wire connect to the socket, does it require soldering (My soldering iron is not big enough to heat a cable that size), or is it simply clamped in.
I am nervous of making a connection that could be taking >100amps without knowing it is a really good and not a heat point, particularly as it will be inside the case.
Anyone fitted a Dinse socket connector and have some insight?
