There's no cover on this screw. I'm tempted to add a rubber boot to give a small amount of protection.

Also, I was giving further thought to my idea of adding a CV boot but I don't think that would be effective, as chips would still stuck to the exposed screw and then get caught when the knee was wound down.Found this tonight:

I'm pretty certain that I've a set of 3 5/8" unf taps.Thread dimension is a bit annoying as I need to make a new nut and had hoped to clean up that thread. I'll have a rummage but fairly sure I don't have 5/8 UNF.
