A little bit of progress regarding the restoration. I stripped the mill down several months ago, painted the knee in the kitchen, stored it in a corner of the dining room, then didn't do much else for several months due to poor weather. More recently I've done a bit of painting and will now be devoting myself to improving the ways and their adjustable gibs. This project will likely take a few more months at this rate, but at least I'm putting some parts back together, thus regaining some bench space.
I need to replace a CV joint boot for the table feed.
The damaged one I cut off was made from some semi-rigid material that was open and didn't provide much protection. I'm considering using a vehicle CV boot unless anyone can suggest a more suitable alternative. I'm not sure how well it will deal with coolant and hot chips.
The smaller diameter measures 35 mm and the larger diameter (shaped like an oval) measures between 50 mm and 75 mm.
Any thoughts?

I have some questions about lubrication that I have not been able to figure out.
There are three, as we call them alemite grease fittings (zerks), that I can not determine if they are to be greased or oiled as Bridgeport turret mills require. I have attached pictures showing the locations. Number 1, on mine, does not seem to be connected to the adjacent oiler fitting and is through to the "backside" of the gib. Number 2, I assume feeds some bearing in the housing behind the thrust bearing. Number 3, best guess wound be oil to top off the gearbox for the table feed.

I have identical lube points on my milling machine.
1. I removed the knee and investigated why there were two lube points next to each other. There didn't seem to be a logical reason! One fed the other. I blocked one off and only use the other. Oil, for the gib strip.
2. I use oil. Iso68. You can slide the whole assembly out quite easily if you want to take a look.
3. Iso68 again, but my use is infrequent and definitely not demanding so I don't worry about what I use. I have previously removed the gearbox and stripped quite a lot of this down. If you add grease via this nipple it will be mixing up with the gearbox oil. The nipple feeds a shaft with a deep groove ball bearing iirc.

That is what I figured it would be on the fittings. But, I believe in second opinions when available, especially since you have had yours opened up.
These are well built machines, intended for a long life if cared for. I would like to acquire a vertical head and one of the Arbor Supports with the large hole allowing the arbor to pass through. But, i doubt I will find them over here.
