Adaptor or not

I have a Mini oxyturbo regulator supplied with my new Clarke 160tm and have bought argon mix gas from Jawel who are local to me in Birmingham after a recommendation by another forum member. The choice of welder and gas is an attempt to avoid ongoing gas rental charges.
I took the regulator to the shop and discovered that I have a male connection and the bottles that they supply need a female connector on the regulator.
I have investigated the use of an adaptor which can be obtained for about £19 or I can change the regulator for about £45, but some previous forum posts have made me wonder if this regulator is safe to use with this bottle?

The adapters are only brass fittings that convert a female bottle thread to a male one. Can't see any reason why it should be an issue as long as it screws in securely and doesn't leak. Even if it did leak all you would be doing is wasting gas.

Only issue will be having to redo two joints every time you change a bottle.

I know the type of bottle you have (I have one) They are converted fire extinguishers. Have had the valve replaced and tested with a date stamp on bottle. Headach I have is that I had hoped to phone to order replacement, pop in with my empty, swap and be on my way (sometimes work up that way) but for ArCo mix they want the bottle left and you pick up next day. Not always possible for me bit of a pain in the a55. CO2 I think they have in stock.
Any hoo take a look at the link below. IF your gauge has it's fitting screwed in you could swap it out for one of these and it's cheeper

So you have an ar/co2 regulator but need a co2 (female threaded connector instead?).

If your sticking with it for a while why not just buy a co2 reg off of evilbay for £20 plus postage? That way if you get a bottle with the different oulet in the future you can always just use your current regulator. Seems daft paying nearly as much for the adaptor as it would cost for the reg itself.... Just my own thoughts....
