Actual size PDF

Not sure of the correct term.

I have a part I've drawn in CAD, 2D shapes of varying sizes.

I want to send it to a friend for him to print, cut around/trace out and cut out by hand.

How would I produce a PDF from the DXF or Drawing that is perfectly formatted to print out in actual size in A4?

My thinking is all A4 paper is the same size. I can check it this end against the actual part.

In Adobe it's just File-Print-Scaling and set at 100%.
Make sure any options like fit to page are not ticked.

I'd add a known size to the drawing so it can be checked if sending it remotely.

Same here or send the DXF and get him to download autodesk viewer or edrawings.

You should be able to print a drawing at 1:1 scale. If you print it out without any scaling, then the part will be as accurate as the printer.

As a failsafe / cross check put a couple of 100mm long lines at 90 degrees to each other in the corner of the drawing. Get your mate to check the size of these when he/she/they print it out.

Note that paper changes size with humidity...

I've exported drawings from onshape as PDFs so no conversion needed, printed at a print shop on A2 size paper was spot on, my home A4 printer is about +/- 1mm over about 250mm.

Good idea, I will be using that in the future, maybe print a square and measure diagonally to check it's square too.

Print to file, 1:1 scale.

And if you do have a print that is slightly out of scale, a photocopier, with its optical zoom, can bring it back correct.

When adding the lines, it is good to put a 0 and 100 at each end (so someone does not assume the line is 4").
