Actual rubberised undercoating for cars?

This is something I have not been able to achieve for years. My classic MBs have a tough, flexible rubberised underbody coating on them. 2 or 3mm thick in places.

Upol gravitex is NOT rubberised. It has high solvent content, reacts with primers in my experience and besides that it hardens, cracks and is generally poor protection IMO.

Hence I have been using waxoyl black underbody scutz for years which does not react and lasts well. Major drawback is that the first few weeks it is soft and rubs off on your clothes.

Is there a good RUBBERISED undercoating please that can be sprayed with a regular shutz gun and does not have high solvent content?

The old bitumastic stuff did have problems though...maybe less on mb than others ( did they ever use hot coatings at 80C?), but it was famous for holding moisture through a small crack which would them cause undetected rust behind the coating.....

3m do a 2 pack product that comes in a sachet where you "break" the corner in to the rest of the mix, and then massage them together

it sprays with its own specilised gun that attaches to the sachet

id have to go and dig out a packet from the workshop to tell you the exact name of it, but, im lead to believe, this is the "factory" product that you are looking for.

Every car I've stripped it off has had rust underneath.

I find corrosion under the original factory coatings too. But the rust comes from somehere, like a fixing stud and creeps behind the rubber coating. After 100k+ miles, winter usage and several decades that's nornal enough IMO. Any coating will fail eventually.

Once a classic car has been repaired and no rust remains it would be nice to reinstate the rubber coatings as they were when new. I think they are still one of the most durable options

I've used Sikaguard 6440 which was ok but still went hard eventually.
I think @RaceDiagnostics used the 3m version to good effect.

A better one is Ce Chem but you need a special application gun.

A two pack option is ProX.
I haven't tried it but it was highly recommended by someone that does this for a living.

the white stuff land rover uses is amazing , sort of like seam sealer only tougher , so I know what your after ,,, trouble is land rover dont use enough of it , so dont scrimp when you do find the right stuff.

The original coating would have been Stone Chip.
Shutz used to be the cheap stuff that comes off with petrol

Whatever Toyota used on the MK2 mr2 was excellent...when I stripped it off it was factory metal under the coating. It was a sort of hard rubber...a white/cream colour. Almost like pu adhesive!

For non daily drivers I prefer epoxy and clear wax...at least if it's rusting I can see the problem!

I always used MIO (Micaceous Iron Oxide) paint from Dacrylate paints straight on the underbody and painted over that, alternatively you could try Chlorinated rubber paint again Dacrylate can supply and we used this on the Dairy walls for years and it put up with all sorts of chemicals without incident.

Yes same stuff on MBs. Cream colour inside. See the lower edge of this repair

Looks very similar to the Toyota coating circa 1990s...it would only come off with a wire wheel. It was so well stuck that I only removed it where necessary.

Might be worth a call to Dinitrol and see if they can suggest something from their product line.
Or something like Henkel Teroson might be another one worth looking at.

Not rubberised, but I've been happy with 3M underbody shultz. Looks textured like an OEM coating. After ten years of use, most of it pretty daily, it looks pretty intact still.
