Following on from my lathe ID thread I am now the proud owner of a Portass model X lathe with no discernible play in the bed or bearings.
The only problem is the worn leadscrew nut which looks to be made of brass or possibly bronze. Someone has already deformed it to take up some slack so I'd like to bore it out and sleeve it with a threaded section, the problem I'm going to have is cutting the thread for the repair section. I've never got my head around cutting threads on the lathe so for now I'm looking for a tap.
I need a right handed tap that is ACME threaded, 8tpi and 0.6" in diameter, I can't find one through the usual suspects so I'm guessing it's an unusual size.
Does anyone have any ideas where I could find one?
