Acetone Caution: Using Nail polish remover

Bought a big bottle of what I thought was Pure Acetone sold as nail polish remover. Says clearly on the front of the Bottle "Pure Acetone"

It isn't it has Jojoba oil in it


So make sure you read the ingredients as well just to be sure.

I've always just assumed it to be the pure product.
I'll be out there checking the label on mine, later!
Cleaning up for a tig weld and realising you've introduced a smearing of oil too, isn't exactly going to bring on a smile.

IPA would be a better bet; it won't be adulterated with stuff for keeping your nails moisturised!

Buy it in 5 litres from fibreglass suppliers and it will be pure and a lot cheaper than nail polish remover.

I bought it as I had none left, and nowhere to get any on a Sunday at 3pm.

250ml was 59p so it hardly broke the bank, equating to little over quid more than your linky for 5ltrs and no postage.

It was more of a heads up for people that are new to TIG welding and might have thought it was cheap and enough to get them by, for the little use it might get.

I have dealt with east coast fibreglass and found them a very useful Bunch. Used acetone is a great fire lighter!

The fumes off acetone are a bit dodgy aren't they ? Any time i have used it it always made me a bit wheezey.

Well actually it only states that the acetone is 100% pure, it just doesn't say that there aren't any other ingredients also in with it. So technically the description is accurate, misleading ......but accurate.
