Acetalyne tank use with argon???

My welder requires argon for better quality welds. A buddy of mine gave me a small tank that he used with dissolved acetalyne for cutting. Is it safe/okay for me to empty it out and use it with argon???

Acetalyne tanks are different from argon, as far as i am aware argon bottles are under greater pressure hence the bottle is thick and in the UK the thread on an argon bottle is different form acetalyne so the answer i believe as an absolute no, and i believe it would be dangerous to attempt it

No, no, no NO! Irondarren is quite correct, totally different gases and do not mix-up the two. Dangerous? YES.
Get yourself a proper Argon cylinder.

Theres a good chance you went get as far as filling it up, should you even attempt it.

You should never put a gas in the wrong cyclinder. Cylinders are marked with their contents and whereas you know what's in, someone else who handles the bottles later may not.

The dangers vary, you could over-pressurise the bottle and putting a flammable gas in an oxygen cyilnder (or vice-versa) would be lethal.

NO MOST DEFINATELY NOT, FOR MANY REASONS THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CYLINDERS ARE NOT THE SAME.

Thanks for your responses, maybe now I'll just use the acetalyne to fire up my grill, I'm sure it'll do a hell of a job on my barbecue this sunday.
