You can fabricate pretty much anything with vice, a tree stump and a hammer. It might not be pretty but it will be solid.
It's easy to get 90% of the way, the last 2% will take most people 10 times longer than the first 90% that's why I stopped at 80% on the inner guard on the KDJ90.
Couple of posts below of some previous work on similar areas / shapes to give you an idea of the process.
Thank maxiboy, its slow going but I'm in no rush and I am learning lots and improving as I go.
Next section was not something I was looking forward to and have been putting it off
PS rear wheel arch
Didn't look too bad but the previous repair was pretty poor.
I could have left it as it's covered with plastic wheel arches but that wouldn't seem right.
First repaired the rot at the bottom of the arch and the rear of the sill to give me a shape to work to.
More work on the spare wheel well.
I bit the bullet and cut out the towing eye and floor.
I've never tackled a shape like this and I knew this was going to be at the limit of my skills but if you don't try you don't learn.
I used techniques from David Gardiner's excellent bodywork restoration DVD which I got on the recommendation of someone on here.
Step one was to cut out the offending section.
This could all go horribly wrong.
I then split the floor from the towing eye to see what I can save and to give me an idea of the shape I need to form.
