You know I'm a dinosaur and not overly keen on Americanisms. Now I love cookies. Millies cookies at terminal 3 were a real treat. However. When I try to research many things, I'm invited to accept cookies. Life is too short over a certain age to do Ts and Cs so I just accept and move on. Now. In simple terms, what have I agreed to and to what detriment.

The cookie is a small file which saves browsing preferences, things you've added to your basket on shopping sites, which threads you've opened on forums, that kind of thing. As I've gotten in before the tin foil hatters; cookies are a good, useful thing and accepting them is of no detriment to you.

I avoid "all" sites which want me to click on press to accept. Truth be known, I don't need 99.9% of anything advertised on the internet.

Well I do mind because every browser in the last 20 years has had sensible options of accepting or rejecting cookies in the browser options. It is idiotic that we have a law forcing us to choose on a per site basis.

On a phone or tablet install the addblock browser, stops the cookies and the messages

Also blocks YouTube adds but you get a black screen for the duration of the ad

you have to agree otherwise you cannot use there products as they are restricted if you refuse the consent

It’s the reason you get bombarded with adverts for things you searched for online

I have a default posit of if it has an accept all and not a decline all I close the page and move on.

Obviously for sites I need to use I will filter their cookies
