Hoping for some input from everyone here ??.
I have been on a 20 week evening course to get me somewhere near AC TIG welding, (as I only had MIG experience),
Some 20 weeks later ....
having had some 10 weeks on OA
then 5 weeks DC
I got 5 weeks on AC - using an ancient HF Miller set
I can sort of nearly do a almost passable weld (ish)
The instructor did say that a modern (poss an Inverter set ) would see my welding improve hugely and quickly with practise, as such I am thinking of buying something - but what ???
I know the Ebaay chinese stuff is dreadfull junk.
I know a EWM is loverly,.... but christ on a bike so is the price
This is for learning to weld better on / hobby use,
I fancy the invertor as I am short on space, and fancy something that "Helps" an idiot welder, but doesn't have to be....something maybe that sets 'perameters' for me via programs would be good ?
It will be used exclusivly for AC TIG, majority will be tigging up say 1.00mm - 4.00mm Ali,
So,
What would you all say are good machines to go for ?
Could you maybe post up a minimum of say 3x machines catagories for me to think over :
1 - A "Budget" Machine(s)
2 - A Mid range Machine(s)
3 - A Mid to top machine(s)
Would be usefull to have make models and where they can be sourced (decent dealers etc) from and rough / typical £s prices maybe ??
I just don't think I have the money for a real top end bit of kit,
but there must be good quality long lasting units out there that aren't going to bankrupt me ???
I just am unsure which to consider........
and equally if not more important - which to aviod
HELP !
Nige
PS any if anyone has something second hand then yes..just maybe ......
