Hi does anyone know where I can get 2/3 mm ABS/plastic sheet to make mud shields for my landy from,it must be thermo formable colour and finish unimportant,Oh and needs to be cheap! as usual, thanks in advance, cheers Chris
hi mate these are the cheapest that i have found as i been doing a hell ov a lot ov research lately on suppliers http://www.theplasticpeople.co.uk/index.php
hope this helps
If the horrible dangly rally car type mud flaps are any good to you i`ve got a pair under the bench you can have if you pass this way, other than that i`ve got some 3mm rubber sheet to which the same applies. I know it`s not what you asked for, but i thought it`s be helpful, and free stuff is usually peoples favorites
Hi thanks for replys the idea is to make mudshields for my project landrover, the original items arer stamped from 1.2 mm steel and rust for a passtime so I thought i will have a go at thermoforming some over the originals[heatgun]as a pattern,or even "improve" the design a bit, many thanks for your kind offer of flaps and rubber, cheers
Chris
Hi Dusty, the project is coming along nicely chassis welding finshed and painted inside and out, rear axle on with new parabolics etc ,will post some pics soon, give me a ring and come over for a brew and have a butchers. Cheers Chris
have a look at some of my pictures in my photo album.
there's a boat, large geothermal chambers etc.
how you going to heat form it?
the plastic is extremley tough and durable. i have just made a snorkle out of pipe for a lad on here. you can put pipe in the vice and bend it all over the place and it just creases and goes back to shape(well nearly) it doesnt split or fracture unlike pvc etc. its rather expensive to buy but its brilliant stuff
Hi scotty thanks for reply the quote "its rather expensive to buy" worries me I was just going to heat it with a heat gun and form it roughly round the old steel mud shields precision isnt a problem its for a land rover S2a sfter all ,one source in the replies gives a sheet for £25 delivered but it is only1.5 mm thick dunno if that will be strong enuff tho,Thanks for interest and excellent projects by the way,I will aspire to that!!
