abrasives for ally

running out of 115 and 230mm discs and saw these pop up stating they can be used for non-ferrous metals.

am i to tak it that they are fine on ally? ive always assumed you dont use abrasive discs on ally for cutting or grinding.

currently using an evo mitre saw but would be handy to have abrasives that would cut ally

They would cut, the problem with higher speed abraisve tools, is that abraisives can clog up on non ferrous, and if bad enough, cause the disc to shatter.

Wax can be used to prevent clogging, not tried it myself.

My dedicated alloy saw (varga va-1) uses a tct saw.

It would be fearful to use on a hand held, but if you are happy to use a fixed motor, then that would be my choice, over an abrasive (that would surely clog)

As they probably sell at a ratio of 1 for every 1000 standard disks, you have to search around a bit to find a specialist supplier who carries them. A box-shifter like Screwstation is unlikely to be one of those places.

cheers for that, will have a look. have found a good deal on a 355mm cold cut chop saw not majorly far from where i am working at the moment so may take a chance on that 'sold as seen' and 'unable to test' popped up in the ad but they arent exactly compicated bits of kit and for 20 quid its gotta be worth a look...i do still fancy getting some good abrasives for ally though, just as a back up. just ordered my normal 150x 115mm discs and 25x 230mm discs, should last me a while
