I had to do a PTTLS course to ‘train’ people for a job I was doing. That meant you could stand at the front of a class. I think it’s got a different name now. I hated doing it so didn’t do much training.
Then you need the actual course and syllabus to be signed off by an awarding body who you teach under and they issue the certificate. If you pick an awarding body that doesn’t have that course it gets expensive as you have to write it then get it approved. Try highfields as they do no end of awards so it’s in their repertoire somewhere I’d think.
Then you need lesson plans, learner objectives etc etc most of which is covered in your pttls but needs to be done. In depth knowledge is handy. In theory you only need to know a bit more than the students but I’m not comfortable with that and think you need a good level of background knowledge and relevant experience.
Obviously you’ll also need the practical stuff plus the insurance etc etc.

The thing I never quite understand with these types of courses is which ones are the 'recognised' courses and which ones are not, if that makes sense? It seems that anyone can offer a 'course' and issue you with a cert but what, in this case, is the recognised standard?

That’s what I was getting at I suppose.
I can’t help re recognised standard but I’m sure a few are not worth the paper. Some trainer ones are crap. Who can do what’s basically a AET in a day or two?!
is there an abrasive wheels association or something? I have a really old book which was my dads on wheel safety and I’m sure it’s got a name like that.
