Yeah I do the exact same thing for the sake of keeping a small box you may get another 20 or more % back on its resale just on the fact you can supply in original package. Like you say small electrical/electronic goods. She told me I had to chuck the packaging from the new dishwasher mind. Can't imagine why!!!!I keep some boxes, as they are worth more when you come to sell them on, ie Mobile phones and tablets.
They probably have an agreement with management BUT the drivers dont like hanging around.I keep some boxes, as they are worth more when you come to sell them on, ie Mobile phones and tablets.
I don't keep them in the belief I'll need it to send the damn thing back.
Courier was been a dick. But then R-tech should have notified [couriers] the customer would need to reuse the packaging
If its big enough for you its big enough for an inverter welder...lol i can get through my hatch so i could keep packaging from an old 3 phase transformer rig. LolI do keep some packaging, but we're limited by the size of the loft access hatch.
........ The box that the unit comes in is very substantial - probably around a meter cubed - so it's not the sort of thing you leave hanging around in case you need it. it!....
If its like the box mine came in, its reinforced along the edges and not possible to be folded flat, mine currently takes up a big space in the garage and is filled with smaller boxes, matryoshka doll style.Just store it flattened, that's what I've done.
Yeah - that. I've asked r-tech to just send me a box and forget about the loan welder. That way, I can hold on to the box when the unit is returned. If its like the box mine came in, its reinforced along the edges and not possible to be folded flat, mine currently takes up a big space in the garage and is filled with smaller boxes, matryoshka doll style.
Why did you not just accept the loan welder and box....swap it over and get Rtech to collect it today. ? Thats what will happen now anyway. The same driver wont wait while you pack the box he delivers you if he would not wait yesterday.Yeah - that. I've asked r-tech to just send me a box and forget about the loan welder. Because the driver insisted (against what r-tech suggested) that we needed to have the bust unit packaged up, before he would unload the loaner. Why did you not just accept the loan welder and box....swap it over and get Rtech to collect it today. ? That's incredable at least the guy could have been savvy enought to let you have the replacement. Whip the replacement out of it's box and put your faulty one back in!! Sometimes you wonder about this check box world we now live in has common sense gone for good?Hmmm... well, some mixed news today.
I didn't keep the box for my welder (it's coming up two years now) but the r-tech folks thought it would be fine, as the courier would be used to swapping the units out of the box and taking mine away.
Nope. The guy made clear he had to pick up mine all parcelled up, before he'd take the replacement out of the van. So he's driven off with the replacement and the necessary packing box still in his van
Back to r-tech to see whether we can get the plonker to turn round and at least drop the unit off.
Disappointing that the best-laid processes still have to be implemented by unpredictable humans...
God he was a PITA wasnt he....good job it was not going back to china..lolBecause the driver insisted (against what r-tech suggested) that we needed to have the bust unit packaged up, before he would unload the loaner.
Chicken-and-egg...
Uk mail actually do a lot of swap items. Often phones. I do feel for the drivers but just imagine selling on ebay and having to fulfill their top rated seller conditions to get decent visibiliity. To a certain extent you have to feel for the driver, most of them do well over 100 drops/collections a day, if he hasnt been told otherwise how is he going to understand the situation, classic case of instructions from carriers firm and their client not matching, and the driver is as usual stuck in front of the customer so will normally take the flack.Either way Skotl hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction.Arther
Sounds like some one has had a rollocking...UPDATE!
I'm heading to the airport at lunchtime (just a down-and-up today) so decided to work from home in the morning. The same UK Mail guy just appeared at the door - he humphed and hawed, as expected, but graciously allowed me to carry the box from his van, swap the units, and carry the box back to his van
So that's phase 1 completed - obviously, we'll have to do this in reverse in a few days
And someone got lucky by being at home...lolSounds like some one has had a rollocking...
