I'm not stuck if it is. I'll just buy an oem one. It's good stuff Rehm so I have no issues buying what I need. It goes from the same socket as the torch switch so my little knowledge says it's probably not can bus. But if it is I'll go Oe.Might be an idea to check, as if it does its OE only and probably very expensive? If you have paid a deposit you are stuck if it is canbus, but if not easy enough to give it a miss.....................
There isn't a issue with it but I can only go from photos it doesn't look a brick. You know as well as I do you cant get a nicer control than the offerings from ssc but if I have to go oem I will. I always wanted the acdc version of that unit after owning the Dc one for a short while I thought it was great. The weight and size is astonishing. Bet it's a pig to work on mind all cramped up but hey I can't have it all. I ain't paying rrp of £3000 for the unit only but at 1k with the kit box it's worth a look as it looks bloody clean. Guy I spoke to can prove its owned from new and it's his personal machine along with a kemppi he has also so it ticks my boxes. I'll see and let you know.Is there a huge issue with the OEM pedal? Is it a brick?
I think it's because the control codes aren't published Keith so it's difficult to reverse engineer a pedal.
This is of course assumes that the manufacturer's pedal is priced as usual (a lot) or is a bit dimpled and yellowy.
A canbus sniffer is available, often used when reverse engineering automotive ecu's. Should be easy enough to reverse engineer the pedal with one of those.
Once ive got the unit I'll pass on any info needed to the experts to determine the pedal type. If it's conventional style then Id probably hand the job to jim tbh. If not then I'll phone qualitas for a quote on a new OE. That's the plan.Probably just buy the oem one then Richard, I don't recall it being super expensive when I was looking over my friends invoice.
Obviously this is all subject to the unit been any good. It might be a dog or I might hate the ac arc stability. That's the deal clincher for me. If it's not lovely on ac I'll simply leave it behind whether it works or not. Due to the lack of serious English reviews on its ac performance I'm going in partially blind. Hugh has been really helpful with the subject having used and praised it highly and his opinion counts for a lot so I'm defo keen on it based on the info he's shared on it.
Yes the kemppi is also for sale. There is no risk here of receiving a dud Chris as I'm 20 miles from it and he's happy to let me play till my heart is content before shelling out. I've paid nothing at the moIf the Rehm seller has a Kemppi, and is keeping that, I wonder what reasons he has given for the sale, as losing £2k isnt something I would want to do for no reason?
I hope so mate.Thats fine then. And at a £1000 seems a bargain if it works well.
