Always wanted to learn. Had a blast on a friends mig 6 years back. (Read one butt joint) and seemed to have some ability so hopefully my journey shouldn't be too hard.
Never had a good enough excuse to actually buy a welder until now. 11/year old convoy. 100000 miles mechanically spot on but the dreaded rust has taken hold. (She spent most of her life on jersey surrounded by sea air )
2 weeks of research and preorder for a gys easymig 140 and I went off to collect it this morning. I'd been wavering on this decision. I'm a chippie and always been aware that buying cheap means buying twice.
Don't tell the wife but the price went up by 300 notes and I walked out with a thermal arc 181i gas reg tips shrouds ect ect ect. Happy though. Its the one I really wanted. Got some scraps to play with and a couple of car doors from the scrappy for a proper trial run.
Going to be slow progress as baby number 3/is due in a month. I'll be logging my progress as it goes and I'm sure I'll have a few questions as I progress.
