I am with Britannia rescue for breakdown cover (relay). They offer a top- notch service and are cheaper than the AA.
A friend was who is with the AA was telling me that they provide the same cover at the same price (something i doubted), so i went on the AA website.
From the AA website:
Quote:
" What is Relay?
If your car can't be fixed quickly or easily, Roadside Assistance will take you to the nearest suitable repairer. But what if you're a long way from home…?
If you add Relay we can take you, your vehicle and up to seven passengers home or to any UK destination of your choice. This could be somewhere you need to get to, a garage you know, or just safely back home".End quote
The way this reads is that if the AA guy cannot fix your vehicle at the side of the road, their procedure is to take you to a local garage (for the £80 per hour repair job) BEFORE the option to be relayed home kicks in.
I phoned the AA this morning and they argue the toss about the interpretation.
I have used Britannia rescue on 3 occasions over 4 years and and i was brought home with the car on the one occassion, so i could sort it myself-no problem whatsoever. There was no mention of taking me to a local repairer (because it was nearer than bringing me home.
