Boomer Trying To Buy New Liver Gets Donation From FB Joke Group (jalopnik.com)
Short version:
1. Former welder in the U.S. has severe health issues after years of ignoring safety issues, including "Magnesium and other stuff in the coating,” he says, “gets into your body...over time, it just does not do good things.”
2. Has to sell his belongings to fund treatment and pay for a liver transplant
3. Posted his compressor for sale on facebook marketplace
4. People rally to his cause and have raised $51k so far, and told him to keep his compressor
Great to see people jumping in to help, but jeez... "best country in the world"? I don't think so - how can a supposed first world country do this to its citizens?
Probably need to be wary of getting political or the thread will get locked but I hope everyone takes care about welding fumes, continues to be thankful for the NHS and be pleased that there's a lot of people out there willing to help!
