A rough estimate on cost please

Hi everyone i am in the process of fabricating a support for a ham radio mast, i am a joiner by trade and don't have much faith in my welding the last thing i want is the tower crashing down.

I have all the material to fabricate all the parts needed and a mag drill to do the holes,

Everything will be prepared so all the welder has to do is weld the pieces together what sort of price would i expect to pay please, bottom plate and four braces.

Was it the "cold lap" - or raw bolts at differing hieghts that caught your eye?

All of it... the welds, the brace lengths, the rawl bolt lengths. It's not a thing of beauty! Sorry if I sound harsh, but it's just how it looks to me.

Picture is only to show what needs welding, it's a picture dragged from the net to give an idea what i need doing. the welds rawl bolts etc are totally irreverent to my question :-).

we understand the question, but it does raise the hackles a bit when you see welding like that (which someone has presumably paid for). Sorry I can't help as I don't weld for a living.

Fair enough. All I would say is expect a better quality of job than is shown in the picture.

LOL, Personally i wouldn't make fun of something unless i could do better myself i agree it's a shambles :-).

that wants to be fabricated and welded offsite. No point doing it onsite, unnecessary expense and time.

It's not the welding that looks worrying in the picture. It's the ground it's connected to. Aerials don't have downward force. It's side to side. Infact the higher it is the more lashings you'll want. Dig a hole throw a scaffold bar in it. Fill with concrete. Done.

Scratch/ grind off the galvi at the very bottom for a good earth connection

An hours work isn't much use unless it's right on your door

The above - 21ft scaffold tube - concreted in - with three/four cable guy lines - sounds the ultimate solution.
