A rare book?

When I had to give up work as a fabricator/welder in the late 80s due to severe back issues, I gave my copy of Dickason's "Geometry of Sheet Metalwork" to a mate not thinking I'd ever need it again. Now I wouldn't mind getting another copy but not at the prices I've seen online. The cheapest used paperback version I saw was around £45. Given the size of the metalworking industry (in all its forms), I'm very surprised at its apparent rarity as indicated by the high cost; a first-edition Dickens could be cheaper.

Anyone able to shed any light on this?

And if anyone has a copy they'd like to sell for a reasonable price, let me know.

Maybe it was originally published cheap in big numbers but got treated more as an instruction book or school book type thing and got knocked about in workshops until tatty then they all got chucked away?
There may be hundreds of them in mint condition tucked away on shelves or only a couple of tatty ones left.
If its just the information you are after you will probably find it on the internet.
If it's the book itself it's worth whatever you want to pay for it.
Although for all you know the seller may have the last 500000 printed of them in stock but is only advertising them one at a time.

I have one (not the one you are looking for) dated about 1675 I think

It's not exactly mint condition and I am a bit scared to try turning the pages to see if they are all present!
Specialist subject so it may be worth a fortune to somebody or maybe not?

I also have a first edition of Mary berry's cookbook. I think all the pages are in that one but they are covered in batter and fat.

Ive just sold a few on here.......for not a lot
Some are on amazon for £200 each.......I didnt sell them for anywhere near that
I wanted them to go to someone who would appreciate them.....I think i managed it

I downloaded the PDF. Not the greatest book in the world in my opinion, they were more of a reference book if you’d already done the learning as an apprentice/college.

That's the route I took. I always found it useful to fall back on for a quick reference as that kind of fabrication in most of the places I worked was the exception rather than the rule. But yours truly always seemed to end up with that kind of work - it was a nice but all too infrequent challenge.

A mate of mine was really good at layout and transition pieces, he still referred to the book. You’d have to be doing it everyday to get to a stage where you didn’t need the book
