A Question For Commercial Electrician Types- Motors
I'm having to change the 1.5 hp motor from 3 ph to 1 ph on my L5 lathe.
The spare single phase motor that came with my lathe appears to have problems, it won't start unless the pulley is given a twist and then its slow to gain speed.
I think the old boy had "played with the single phase motor at some time" even the wiring from the field coils/armature appear the be on the wrong connector terminals and with only one capacitor with the motor, makes me think he's been playing.
So I've decided to buy a brand new motor and be done with it.
My Question is:
Should I replace the motor with another 1.5 hp/1ph motor or fit a 2 hp/1ph motor and what start up current draw/pull should I expect to see from each one???
